It was learned that the research experts unanimously concluded that the upcoming Olympics will induce three major changes for Beijing in the next four years and estimated that the Games would add an extra 0.8% of growth to Beijing's gross city product each year and will bring about definite changes to Beijing's industries and business structure. It was estimated that most of the changes brought about by the Olympics would concentrate on tertiary industries with the latter's elevation to take place in the next four years. It was projected that the weight of tertiary industries in Beijing would reach 70% by 2008. In addition, the Olympics would project numerous new jobs for the capital. Experts predict that from this year through 2008, Olympics will add cumulatively 1.8 million new jobs in Beijing.

Most of these new jobs in the next two years would be in construction, afterwards, there would be a marked increase in service related jobs, reaching a peak in 2007 and 2008.

This research also discovers that Beijing must separate Olympic investment from other normal investment and cannot blindly exaggerate the benefits of Olympic investment. At the same time, one must consider the radiating effect of Olympic investment on districts outside of Beijing.
