  Today is the eighth day of the last lunar month which is called the laba festival. In China, it is a traditional festival and there are many legends about the origin of this festivity abound. The most popular one is when the Ming emperor Zhu Yuanzhang got into hungry three days, he found some coarse cereals and made porridge out of it. As a result, in the time of becoming the Ming emperor, he made Laba Day a holiday in order to commemorate the hard period that he suffered. Since then, eating Laba Porridge became a tradition.
